Vietnamese

Vietnamese is a branch of the Viet-Muong in the Vietic languages subgroup of the Austroasiatic languages. It is the national and official language of the Republic of Vietnam. It is the mother tongue of almost the entire population living in Vietnam and about three million people as minorities overseas. Vietnamese, whose current writing system is an adaptation of the Latin alphabet, has used the Chinese writing system until recently, and therefore has been highly influenced by this language. Therefore, it has common vocabulary with Chinese.

Vietnamese Alphabet

The Vietnamese alphabet consists of 29 letters. The letters F, J, W and Z are not included in the alphabet. Some letter combinations are used instead of these letters.
